Chef Michael Hung returned to the LA dining scene again at Viviane; a new restaurant inside the Avalon Hotel in Beverly Hills. Not only has he brought over the dinner crowd from his former restaurant (Faith & Flower), he has also changed his style of cuisine to a more lighter thoroughfare that highlights seasonal local ingredients.
The food at Viviane is Southern California French-inspired despite the staff’s description as International cuisine. My taste buds immediately picked up the a very different direction. Overall, the dishes at Viviane were simple yet sophisticated; it’s neither heavy nor fussy. In a sense, one cannot get lost or distracted by what they are eating at Viviane.
